Hello Again!
I made up one of your suggested cables (using COM port and MAX232 chip). I am now able to communicate with my dead (unlocked) Siemens A60. I suspect that the phone has a damaged bootcore . I also have another Siemens A60 (locked) which is good and working. I wanted to take the fullflash from this good phone and transfer to dead one, but VKLAY refuses to communicate with it, and reports one of the following messages : "A hardware I/O error was reported acessing COM1- Loader: Open: No answer from boot InitBoot.bin". "A hardware I/O error was reported acessing COM1- Loader: Open: No answer from boot GoBoot_BootcoreBug.bin Is this because the good phone is locked, or is it something more fundamental, i.e. comms ? What is best step to fix the dead phone. I must be getting closer to a solution now Thanks for your help. |

on C60 use midlet for patching bootcore on firmware v23 (if you have newer, you must downgrade)
http://forum.vi-soft.com.ua/index.php?showtopic=280 on a60, - i don't know, may be making testpoint will help, but you loose warranty. -------------------- |

Thank you ,
How do I repair the bootcore - can it be patched with the boot code of good A60? If answer is 'yes', then where can I get bootcode from? Kind Regards. |

if you make a testpint and flasher it connected to your phone - just upload your old, good backup to the phone WITH WRITTING to bootcore (you must enable writing to bootroce in Options -> Advanced). If you do not have backup with good bootrore - just read it (bootcore) from good A60 and upload it to your (you must enable writing to bootroce in Options -> Advanced).
